"Bee Swarm" directed by Dan Seyfried

(19:30 - 20:30 - Theaterzaal)

Every bee's nest there has a queen and workers who work for her, for the community. There seems to be chaos, but each individual has a very specific and important role to play in the hive. Together they form a super-organism, where ego is put aside and everything is done to make the whole perfect. In this format, the stories will be the nests in which the main characters will be the queens and all other elements (music, secondary characters, setting) will act as the workers. Despite the chaos that seems to reign, it will form a coherent whole. You will see the improvisers constantly playing together, miming an element of the scenery, illustrating a simple leaf blowing in the wind, a beating heart, a princess dress or sometimes playing the main character living 1000 adventures. But each one will be important for the coherence, poetry and beauty of the spontaneously created story. They will play together as a superorganism!

"Stacejam" by Stacey Smith

(20:45 - 21:15 - Theaterzaal)

STACEJAM is a solo musical improv show created and performed by Stacey Smith. With one suggestion, Stacey will create a world with dozens of characters and tell their stories through scenes and songs.

"Neverfolk" directed by Chris Mead

(21:30 - 22:15 - Theaterzaal)

We eat. We sleep. We desire. We tell stories. Every culture, every society. We tell stories to try and understand who we were and who we might yet become. These are the folktales that never were. That might still be. Improvised stories of the ordinary and the extraordinary. Of everyday lives and the magic that bleeds from their edges. NeverFolk creates improvised theatre that is funny and heart-breaking, wise and foolish. Stories that live for a glorious moment and then never again.

"The Glass Imaginary" by The Improvised Play

(19:30 - 20:30 - Theaterzaal)

In The Glass Imaginary, we improvise a brand new play every evening, inspired by the works of Tennessee Williams. Lush Southern accents, unrequited love, passionately requited love, and inner turmoil all feature in this unique period piece. Set against the backdrop of the deep south, where everyone has a role to fulfil in life, we see characters who struggle to find their place. In 2022, when the world is again in turmoil and society seems unrecognisable, this piece takes on new meaning.

In the works of Tennessee Williams, vivid dreams collide with stark reality. Repressed desires, an excess of emotion, and poetic language express the inner life of the playwright and each character as they struggle against the confines of society. Tennessee Williams’ goal was to write plays that were ‘a picture of my own heart; we strive to emulate this approach as we wear our hearts on our sleeves with each show.

Developed in Conjunction with Kaci Beeler of American Berserk Theatre in Austin, Texas.

"Promised" directed by Anja Sophie Boorsma

(21:00 - 22:00 - Theaterzaal)

NEW FORMAT: "Woman up!" by Woman Up!

Hovering over a public toilet seat while keeping your pants from touching the floor, wearing another pair of underwear over your stockings to keep them from sliding down, being sexually harassed, coughing over your farts to cover the sound, keeping business as usual even while hurting from period pain, allowing someone to help you carry your suitcase up the stairs, feeling your baby kick in your womb… These are only some of our experiences as women in this world. The kind of things women talk about behind closed doors, (if they even talk about them at all...) and the kind of experiences we rarely see on stage. Until now!

In this show everything will be out in the open - all the funny, painful, scary, icky and powerful moments we experience as women, alone and together.

"Hairspring" directed by Alice Rey

(19:30 - 20:30 - Theaterzaal)

In this show, a detail of the scene can at any time be highlighted, described and become the starting point for a new scene.

An external narrator can come and give focus to an element of the scene to create a fluid transition. The actors will then take the time in music to restructure a new universe with their bodies. Round trips are possible in universes already crossed. The goal is to find the echoes and common threads that will emerge, then gradually blur the boundaries between the worlds and create organic sensory universes where the corporality will express the essence of the scenes played.

"Playing with the enemy" by Playing with the enemy

(21:00 - 22:00 - Theaterzaal)

Inspired by poems from the Arab spring, which are being read on stage in Arabic and Hebrew, Inbal and Zaki will play scenes about conflict, love, friendship, hardship, and more.

They will use the cultural similarities between them and dive into the distances.

They don't shy away from “Hard” topics and they'll use storytelling and humour to explore them.

NEW FORMAT: "Investigation" by Raining Cats and Bats

(22:30 - 23:00 - Blauwe Zaal)

A totally unexpected murder happens during a social event. Everybody present knew the deceased, and thus everybody is a suspect. The interrogations begin, and with them the story unravels. Who had the greatest motive and who, ultimately, is the killer? The interrogator listens to the same story from different angles and needs to untangle the mystery and bring the culprit to justice. The killer is discovered and the inspector, in a dramatic public announcement, reveals who the person responsible for the murder is. Were they right or wrong? It remains to be seen…

"King's Whim" by Global Impro

(19:30 - 20:30 - Theaterzaal)

"The Cell" directed by Tom Hill

(19:30 - 20:30 - Theaterzaal)

What is it like to witness the inside of an improviser's brain?

The Cell is an improv show that locks an improviser in a sound proof cell with a camera for an hour straight while the onstage comedians dive into the captive comedian’s mind…right as it breaks.

One improviser is selected at random to be locked in a cell with nothing but a camera that is streaming their every move to a screen on stage – only they don’t know when they’re being watched and when they’re not.

As players onstage create a hilarious run of scenes, games, and monologues inspired by the madness coming from the cell, the captive comedian has to keep turning out a never-ending show without an audience, and without ever knowing when they’re being watched.

Created by Tom Hill (Amy&Tom), the Cell has been performed all over the world.

"CHEKHOV'S TOY GUN PEW-PEW EXCELLENT SHOW" by Doris Likes Everything

(21:00 - 22:00 - Theaterzaal)

In this monoscene-ish show “CHEKHOV’S TOY GUN PEW-PEW EXCELLENT SHOW!” Doris Likes Everything does what they do best - they play hard and silly in a space time continuum, taking you to a destination unknown, until it has been created together with the help of the audience. In the beginning of the show Doris asks for different objects that exist in the fixed location, and by the end of the show they have used all/some of them in the most obvious and not-so-obvious ways to ensue hilarity.

NEW FORMAT: "Solo for Two People" by Ty Bougs

(22:30 - 23:00 - Blauwe Zaal)

Life is made of strong choices.

But have you ever asked yourself: what would my life be like if I had made the other choice? Would it have been better?

This show allows you to live these choices, in parallel, and perhaps give you an element of answer.

From that moment on he begins a musical, unpredictable and passionate journey in search of love. Does love have a final destination? Is love the solution to end loneliness? What exactly is love? In this improvised show, a single performer creates the entire story which is all about the sweetest of feelings. And what better way to celebrate this than through music?

"Patchwork" directed by Gael Doorneweerd-Perry

(21:00 - 22:00 - Theaterzaal)
